The NSCMLT mandate is to ensure applicants are qualified to practice as a medical laboratory technologist (MLT) in Nova Scotia. A license to practice will be granted if the applicant meets the requirements of NSCMLT Regulations section 9 and applicable policies.
In order for this application to be processed you must:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You must have a NSCMLT practicing license before starting employment orientation. It is a violation of the NSCMLT act and/or regulations to practice medical laboratory technology without a license and a fine or penalty will occur. Please refer to sections 39, 40 and 41 of the NSCMLT Act.
All correspondence from NSCMLT will be sent via email. You must use an email address that you monitor regularly when registering with the College. Please add info@nscmlt.org and registrar@nscmlt.org to your safe senders list. If you would prefer a PDF application form, please contact NSCMLT.
Provisional Registration Class: A provisional license allows the medical laboratory technologist (MLT) to temporarily practice as a MLT in Nova Scotia, with conditions and restrictions, until they are able to obtain a full active license
Active Registration Class: Allows the MLT to practice as an MLT in Nova Scotia without any conditions or restriction.
Documents can be uploaded in PDF or JPG format or alternatively, sent by regular mail to NSCMLT but this will considerably lengthen the time for processing.
New Graduate:
MLT that have practiced in another regulated province (Labour Mobility)
New Registrant MLT or practiced in an unregulated province

If you have not yet completed a CSMLS Prior Learning Assessment, please do so before applying for membership.
Please upload (see "Supporting Documents" section below) or send a copy of your original prior learning assessment (PLA) from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) in English with their authentication stamp to NSCMLT or request CSMLS to send a copy directly to NSCMLT.

In order for your application to be processed you must submit payment of your registration fee. The College registration year runs from January 1st to December 31st. For applicants who have never been registered with the College and who are applying for a practising registration class, registration fees are prorated monthly.
Additionally, first time applicants are charged a one-time administration fee to have their initial application processed.
Your Total Fee: Your total could not be calculated. Please make sure you have selected a "Class of Registration" at the beginning of this application.
Upon submission, you will be asked to provide credit card information.
Upon submission, you will be given mailing details.
Upon submission, you will be given instructions on where to send your e-Transfer.
All applicable fees (except for potential late fees) will be deducted from your pay.
