Initial Registration Application

Online Registration Application Information

Registration Class definitions:

  • Provisional Registration Class: A provisional license allows the applicant to temporarily practice in Nova Scotia, with conditions and/or restrictions, until they are able to obtain a full active license.
  • Active Registration Class: An active license allows the applicant to practice in Nova Scotia without any conditions or restrictions.

Instructions:

In order for this application to be processed you must:

  • Pay all applicable fees
  • Complete the application in full
  • Upload all required documents as provided below under Categories of Registrants:
    • Note: documents can be uploaded in PDF or JPG format or sent by mail to NSCMLT (this option will require additional time to process).

Categories of Registrants:

  1. New Graduate:

    • Copy of an official letter from an accredited program confirming successful completion OR a copy of certificate/diploma/degree
    • Proof of registration (receipt or confirmation email) OR evidence of successful completion of an entry to practice exam
    • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance of $2,000,000
    • Proposed employer's intent to hire letter
    • Completed Acknowledgement of Supervision form
    • Evidence of NSCMLT English language requirements (refer to the English Language Proficiency policy)
    • Canadian government issued photo identification (Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, proof of landed immigrant resident status, or copy of a valid work permit)
    • Copy of criminal records check (CRC)/ vulnerable sector check (VSC)
  2. New Registrant - practiced in a regulated province (Labour Mobility Policy):

    • A letter of standing from current or previous licensing college
    • Proof Professional Liability Insurance of $2,000,000
    • Proposed employer's intent to hire letter
    • Evidence of NSCMLT English language requirements (refer to the English Language Proficiency policy)
    • Canadian government issued photo identification (Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, proof of landed immigrant resident status, or copy of a valid work permit)
    • Copy of criminal records check (CRC)/ vulnerable sector check (VSC)
    • Current résumé
  3. New Registrant - practiced in an unregulated province:

    • Copy of an official letter from an accredited program confirming successful completion OR a copy of certificate/diploma/degree
    • Evidence of successful completion of an entry to practice exam
    • Letter of standing from previous employer
    • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance of $2,000,000
    • Proposed employer's intent to hire letter
    • Evidence of NSCMLT English language requirements (refer to the English Language Proficiency policy) Canadian government issued photo identification (Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, proof of landed immigrant resident status, or copy of a valid work permit)
    • Copy of criminal records check (CRC)/ vulnerable sector check (VSC)
    • Current résumé
  4. Internationally Educated Registrant:

    • Official copy of Prior Learning Assessment
    • Proof of completion of course(s) or completion of bridging program (if applicable)
    • Proof of registration (receipt or confirmation email) OR evidence of successful completion of a entry to practice exam.
    • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance of $2,000,000
    • Proposed employer's intent to hire letter
    • Completed Acknowledgement of Supervision form (if applicable)
    • Evidence of NSCMLT English language requirements (refer to the English Language Proficiency policy)
    • Canadian government issued photo identification (Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, proof of landed immigrant resident status, or copy of a valid work permit)
    • Copy of criminal records check (CRC)/ vulnerable sector check (VSC)
    • Current résumé
